Ultimate fix for Korg nano Kontrol Studio Bluetooth not connecting or firmware update

Here's the problem: You're a Korg nano Kontrol studio user and it used to connect to Blu tooth and now it won't right?

You've been through every part of their site - and downloaded the user manual and cannot find the fix.

You've tried fixing the Korg nano Kontrol by deleting - reinstalling. You've added the Bluetooth MIDI device controller a few times (and you may even see an old ghost of the controller)

You've tried hitting the connect button and it won't connect. You've followed every thread and you hit the dead end of the "Put it in update mode"

You've seen the video on YouTube for the nanoStudio update and not the Kontroller - and you are just about fed up.

It says it's in the manual and it's not. You've downloaded the manual and looked at  all the modes.

You've tried every combo of boot up key combinations.

Ginny Vee has got you !!! We have the answer. I'm her producer and it took me hours to work this simple thing out

Here's the solution: It's not working because the firmware needs updating for iOS and Mac OS after a few different versions.

Step 1: Download the Korg nanoStudio Updater software from here : https://www.korg.com/us/support/download/product/0/552/#software

Step 2: This package contains the magic secret in the updater instructions - READ IT- this is not the same as the user manual. And close your DAW and  Bluetooth controller - and any MIDI software such as the system Audio Midi controller you tried. And make sure the KORG updater software is all quit or it won't work . No software can be open that touches the midi.

Step 3: Turn your Korg nanoKontrol Studio off at the back by putting the switch in the middle position.
Then above slider 8 - whith is the furthest right as you look at the nano Kontrol Studio controller - you have to hold down the mute and select button together.

Step 4: make sure your USB cable is directly into the computer - not via a hub. God knows why but the lower power can affect it.

Turn the Korg nanoKONTROL studio back on while holding the buttons and the 5 white lights above the shuttle controls will light up - BINGO you are in update mode.

Step 5: Now and ONLY NOW open the Korg nanoKontrol Updater software and it will allow you to update : DO NOT TOUCH ANY CONTROLS ON YOUR nano KONTROL Studio it will F it up - be patient !!

This will go solid like the detect button and then hit it

Step 6: Okay your firmware is now up to date - you can set the back slider to the middle off position - and turn it back on in Bluetooth mode.

Open your bluetooth control software (downloaded from the app store the one KORG recommends.

It will say here connect when it is not connected. Just hit connect

Step 7: You can NOW open your DAW and the Korg nano KONTROL should be there and you are all done.
